Shift Your Mind, Master Your Life!
Are You at Source or Consequence?
Today we're going to talk about a very important concept. I chose to do this one first because this is really the basis of everything. This is where you really need to understand where you are. It's basically on one side or the other. It's a very powerful concept.
This is a basis for when you grasp this, you can truly transform your life. It's a belief that people are either at source or consequence of their life. What this means simply is that you're either in the driver's seat of your life or you're simply a passenger. Now let's take this a little further.
Let's say person A is its source for their life. They take responsibility for their actions, their thoughts their emotions, and they believe that they have the power to shape their life. They understand that their thoughts influence their reality, and they use this knowledge to their advantage.
They focus on empowering thoughts and cultivate healthy habits they take consistent action towards their goals or results that they want. They believe they have the ability to learn, grow, and overcome obstacles that come in their way. And, most even view obstacles as opportunities, actual learning experiences. Yes, they go that far. That's, that's where I am now. I have trained myself to really look at things as what can I learn from this.
On the other hand, we have person B. Another way to describe them is that they view themselves kind of as victims of circumstance. They believe life happens to them. They believe they have little control over their experiences. Generally you're going to hear a lot of self negative talk and they struggle with self discipline. A big key is they allow fear to dictate their choices and blame everyone but themselves.
Now here's the game changer in all this.
You literally have the key now to determine your life.
You can be source and choose how your life goes, or you can be at consequence and just keep riding along the waves and hoping things get better. If we break this down a little bit further, your thoughts influence your emotions. An obvious example; You can think, Oh my gosh, it looks like it's going to rain today. Oh man, this is terrible. Then you just start having these bad emotions and feel depressed. I happen to love rain and I hope it rains every day. So it just depends on how you look at that. So your thoughts definitely affect your emotions and your emotions do affect your actions.
So if you're having negative thoughts and then you're going to start having a negative emotions, do you really think your actions are going to be positive and moving in a direction that you want them to be? Not a chance, it doesn't work that way. So becoming aware of your thoughts is the key. That is the first thing.
You must become aware of your thoughts. I know for me, I started feeling this pit in my stomach. You know, they say you just have this pit in your stomach something bad is going to happen or something is not right. I noticed that and as soon as I started feeling that, I thought about what I was thinking. Sure enough, I was thinking of something not good.
I used that as my key to start changing how I thought. It takes a little while and it takes repetition. I still catch myself every once in a while doing it. So, it's something you have to become aware of and be very vigilant in to begin changing your thoughts. If you do this every day, all day, then you will start to see the change. You're going to see less and less of this negative thought process and the negative self talk, which I was a king of that also.
So really becoming aware is the key.
Another example is something that, when I thought about it, it really struck home, it really made sense to me. Think about when you're in school. You study really hard and you got an A on your test. Wow, man, look what I did. Look, I studied hard, I knew this, I nailed it. I got an A on this test. Right? It's easy to take credit for that.
But then, don't study quite as much, think, ah, it's not going to be too bad, and you get an F. You fail the test. Oh, well, there was a tricky question, the teacher didn't go over this, you know, blah, blah, blah. It's always someone else's fault, right? We all did that, right? Yep, I did that.
That's the difference right there. It's easy to take responsibility. On something good that you did, of course it's easy. We do that. However, the real power is taking responsibility for the things that are aren't exactly the way you wanted them to be.
Think about this. If you studied hard and got an A and you decided to not study hard and you got an F, you controlled your outcome, didn't you? Both cases, you were in control. Not the teacher, not the president, not the interest rates, not anything else. You were in control of how you did on the test. I want you to think about that and let that sink in. I just got an incredible feeling just thinking about it again, and I have thought about this a lot and for a long time.
But once it hits you, you're going to realize that you are in control.
You have that power, and that power is enormous.
It's an immense power that you have to control your life. And it all comes down to how you think, your decisions, and then the actions you take.
So remember, you have a choice. It's your life and where you've got to start, is right now. You've got to accept responsibility for everything in your life right now. So if your life's not where you want it to be, guess who's responsible for that?
You!
No one else, you.
Once you get that concept and really fully grasp it and internalize it and believe it, your life can change from that point on. So I encourage you to embrace your power. Take charge of your thoughts. Align them with your dreams. And watch as your life begins to transform. Till next time, remember...
You shift your mind, you can master your life.
